We spent the last week making dat trips in the New South Wales countryside. It turns out there is quite a lot of it just past the Sydney city limits. Honda tells me the Civic was designed along the lines of their hugely successful Accord Euro. It certainly handles like the Euro, but most importantly it takes you to the places you really want to go. Can you imagine anything more dreary than beautiful mountain road with twists and winds and turns a-plenty, and you, you’re stuck in one of those god-awful car share things. You know the ones, they have the large friendly lettering with a message saying it’s good to be green. I’m not so sure being green at any costs may be good for the environment but absolutely deadly for your self esteem. No, a reasonably priced compact sedan makes sense in every way.
While we put the finishing touches on our humble ramblings, why don’t you cast your eye over some of the scenic locations that made us say “AHHH” this week. We took a spin out to Historic Picton which nestles snugly into a cosy valley in valley in the verdant New South Wales Southern Highlands. We then took an overnighter to glorious Leura which is a hop skip and a jump from the three Sisters in the stunning blue mountains. We visited out favourite garden at Everglades House for a light Devonshire tea in the bay window. It over looks the valley far below and feels like a million miles from the hustle and hideous traffic in Sydney . It’s bliss. Autumn is a magical time as the leaves turn and lay in piles at the side of the road. Who doesn’t like the shoosh through them making little swirling whirlpools of colour like scene in a rom-com.
The pictures speak for themselves so we won’t say too much about the Civic until we bring you the full-on evaluation results later in the month.
