2013 Nissan GT-R: Supercar Performance Elevated

Nissan Australia has confirmed that the 2013 Nissan GT-R Premium Edition will go on-sale in Australia on 1 February 2013.

The latest edition of the GT-R, previewed at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, Australia and before its global unveil in Japan on November 2, features enhancements throughout the vehicle for increased performance, improved ride and handling, and greater customisation.

Already considered a legendary supercar, the 2013 GT-R has received evolutionary design and engineering enhancements based on feedback acquired from competing in the 24-Hours of Nurburgring race earlier this year.

Notable modifications include improved engine response in both the mid and upper-rpm rev range, increased body rigidity, and specification changes to the shock absorbers, springs and front stabiliser. As a result, the vehicle’s overall performance is dramatically increased, high-speed stability improved and ride quality is more refined.

Additionally, a new luxury interior option will be offered that features genuine hand-stitched semi-aniline leather in amber red colour (seat and door trims, centre console), further enhancing the sense of quality and style within the cabin.

The 2013 GT-R also recorded a 0-100km.h time of 2.7 seconds in October 2012 at Sendai Hi Land Raceway, an improvement of 0.1 seconds compared to the 2012 edition, and lapped the Nurburgring Nordschliefe circuit in 7minutes 19.1 seconds.

2013 NISSAN GT-R: OVERVIEW

Engine
Sharper mid-range engine response and improved high-end acceleration:

  • The incorporation of high-output injectors that more precisely control fuel injection improves mid-range engine response and acceleration at higher rpms.
  • A specially-developed orifice to the relief valve has been added to the turbocharger bypass; these suppress the rapid decrease of the forced injection pressure, helping to sustain acceleration at high rpms.
  • By adding a specially-designed baffle plate to the oil pan, oil pressure is better stabilised while rotational friction within the oil pan is reduced, which increases engine performance during high-speed cornering.
  • The engine now carries an engraved plate bearing the name of the Takumi who assembled the engine by hand.

Chassis
Glued-to-the-ground handling and rock-solid stability at super high speeds:

  • After meticulously measuring the roll centre of a GT-R while in motion, Nissan engineers lowered the vehicle’s centre of gravity in accordance with the deflection of the suspension bushings and tyres. The specifications of the shock absorbers and front stabiliser have also been modified.
  • Cam bolts have been installed on the front suspension to improve camber accuracy and maintainability of alignment settings.
  • The torque from the driveshaft to the hub bearings was increased to improve reliability in high-stress situations, such as competition (track) driving.

Body
Improved driving stability and steering response:

  • Reinforcements were added at two locations in the dash panel bar and instrument panel member, resulting in improved suspension performance and increased body rigidity.

2013 MODEL NISSAN GT-R NISMO GT3 RELEASED

TOKYO, Japan Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd. (Nismo) is pleased to announce the official release of a Nissan GT-R (R35) that conforms to FIA GT3 regulations: the 2013 Model, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.

The 2012 model, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3, which debuted this March, has brought back race victories from across the globe. Entered by NDDP RACING (Nismo) as well as customer racing teams, the GT-3 has outperformed the competition at this year’s SUPER GT series (GT 300 class), Super Taikyu (GT3 class), British GT Championship and GT Cup.

Nismo has developed the 2013 Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 using all the valuable data brought back from these races, in addition to the dyno, track tests, and customer feedback, to enhance its competitiveness and performance. Most significant improvements were made to the following crucial points:

– Engine performance and durability
– Aerodynamic performance
– Brake balance
– Suspension setting to suit new aerodynamics package
– Gear ratio to optimise engine output increase

Engine is the biggest contribution to performance enhancement, which includes new camshaft timing. Moving parts of the engine were also reinforced to guarantee durability.

Several modifications were made to enhance aerodynamics: canards were added to the front and the front fender louvers were enlarged. The positioning of the rear wing was optimised. These changes improved aerodynamic balance between front and rear, and increased downforce, which enhanced overall aerodynamic performance.

The 2013 model, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 is manufactured on demand. Orders will be accepted from 13 November 2012 on. Should the number of orders exceed production capacity, Nismo retains the right to make final decisions on order fulfilment.

Nismo is currently preparing an update kit for the 2012 model, Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.

Sales and customer support for the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 will be implemented by Nismo for Japan, Asia, North America, South America, and Oceania, whilst our project partner, JRM, will continue to cover Europe, Russia and the Middle East, in the same way as 2012 Model.
