Peugeot And Citroen Australia/New Zealand To Introduce Animal Detering Technology

Peugeot and Citroen in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) have teamed up with local engineers to develop a discreet system that deters animal from straying into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

Dubbed “Bugger Roo” and “Sheep Shoo” in their respective markets the system can be fitted to any vehicle derived from PSA’s modular EMP2 platform, including the Peugeot 308, and Citroen Picasso and Grand Picasso.

Fitted behind the headlamp and plugged into the existing wiring loom the device emits both low and high frequency noises in a narrow beam at speeds above 50km/h.

Inaudible to humans, the device will be available via Peugeot and Citroen dealers and is easily fitted to existing vehicles.

Technical and Training Manager for Peugeot and Citroen ANZ, Sii Lee Yu, said the device was two years in development.

“To develop a device that has the potential to reduce harm to vehicle occupants and animals was a rewarding task,” said Lee Yu.

“There is the potential for this device to become available to other markets globally pending further development and testing for their unique wild life, but it is great to be at the forefront of such a valuable technology.”

Bugger Roo and Sheep Shoo will be available from April 1 across all Peugeot and Citroen dealers across Australia and New Zealand.
