With the Geelong Revival Motoring Festival in its 60th year, Renault Australia will be participating in the national sprint, featuring the out-of-retirement Megane Trophy V6 driven by Australian racing champion and motorsport personality, Cameron McConville.

“Renault Australia is thrilled to share the Megane Trophy V6 with motorsport fans at this year’s Geelong Revival,” said Renault Australia Managing Director Mr. Justin Hocevar. “Taking part in the Revival provides us with the opportunity to celebrate our long history in motorsport as well as supporting the event itself, which gives a lot back to the local motorsport community.

“It’s great to have Cameron as our driver. Cameron is very familiar with the Megane Trophy V6, which he drove in demonstration laps at the 2013 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, which was the last time the machine was seen in public. We can’t wait to see him race down the Geelong foreshore and encourage everyone to join us at this historic event,” Mr. Hocevar said.

The Renault Megane Trophy V6 has been taken out of retirement as part of a new incentive scheme for Renault apprentices and technicians trained at Renault Australia’s facility at its head office in Mulgrave.

The Megane Trophy V6 is a purpose-built circuit and high-speed racing machine that has outstanding cornering and braking performance.

McConville will run the race version of the Renault Megane R.S. street vehicle down the raceway of the revival’s headline event, the national sprint, four times on the Saturday and Sunday. The national sprint has been held in the same location since 1956 and is the focal point of the revival.

“I just love driving the Renault Megane Trophy V6,” Cam McConville said. “It’s a real driver’s car and one of the most enjoyable race cars I have ever driven. It’s been a little while since I had the pleasure of being behind the wheel, so I can’t wait to show it off at the Geelong Revival and support all the motorsport fans that come along to this great event.”

McConville has years of racing experience under his belt in V8 Supercars and is a household name in the Australian motorsport community. Not only will McConville be racing at the Revival, he will also join the commentating team alongside Don Kinsey, the Australian voice of classic motorsport, as well as Adrian Mosbey and Charles Rodgers.

The Geelong Revival Motoring Festival is a family-friendly, three day event with something for everyone. There are a number of activities taking place over the weekend and many new elements, including a Hill Climb and a chance to get up close and personal with the action in the pits, where over one hundred cars and bikes will be gearing up for a weekend of competitive racing.
