German racing driver Marco Wittman has enjoyed a special relationship with BMW Motorsport since his debut in the 2013 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, better known as the DTM.
Piloting the BMW M4 DTM in its 2014 debut season, Wittman was able to seal the DTM driver’s championship for BMW Team RMG. The combination took four round victories out of ten, beating some of the toughest tin-top competition in the world in the process.
Remaining with BMW Team RMG and his faithful BMW M4 DTM over the last two seasons, Wittman was able to secure a second DTM driver’s championship in 2016, adding a further three race victories to his illustrious career.
To commemorate this victory, BMW M has announced an exclusive road-going version of the racer: the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition.
Limited to a global run of only 200, BMW Group Australia is proud to confirm a 10-unit allocation.

“On the back of the sold-out M4 GTS, the M4 DTM Champion Edition offers similar racetrack-inspired performance with further exclusivity, and is a fitting tribute to Marco’s achievements.”
Water injection cools inlet charge to significantly boost power and torque
Developed under the bonnet of the 2015 BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car, BMW M’s unique water injection system made its production debut on the M4 GTS.
Now the M4 DTM Champion Edition’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six uses this system, which sprays a water mist to lower inlet temperatures. This enables increased turbo boost pressure and more aggressive ignition timing, which in turn realises exceptional gains in power and torque.
Peak power and torque are rated at 368kW and 600Nm respectively, representing 51kW and 50Nm increases over the regular M4 variant.
Offered exclusively with the seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission and driving the rear wheels in the best motorsport tradition, the M4 DTM Champion Edition will hit 100km/h from a standstill in only 3.8 seconds, before heading to a limited top speed of 305km/h where conditions allow.
Fuel consumption is listed at 8.5L/100km on the combined cycle, with 199g/km CO2.
Aggressive exterior magnified by bespoke highlights
Available only in Alpine White, the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition’s exterior livery apes that of the DTM racer; especially with the additional M striping applied along the M4 DTM’s side flanks and CFRP roof.
CFRP is also prominent on the fixed front splitter and aero elements, the mirror caps, side skirts, diffuser and fixed boot-mounted spoiler. Like the M4 GTS, the bonnet is also CFRP.
Another lightweight standout is the titanium quad exhaust system, which not only saves weight but adds a suitable raucous soundtrack.
Star-spoke ‘666 M’ wheels, measuring 19 inches on the front axle and 20 inches on the rear, are finished in a sinister Orbit Grey matt paint. They are fitted with highly-focused Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres that measure 265/35/19 on the front axle and 285/30/20 on the rear.
To further maximise track performance, M Carbon Ceramic brakes are fitted as standard.
Race seats and roll-cage star in focused interior
The lightweight race theme continues inside with thin-shelled M bucket seats trimmed in Alcantara and Merino leather. Alcantara features extensively elsewhere, the tactile, lightweight material lining the interior and being employed to cover the M Sports steering wheel with its grey 12 o’clock marker. A commemorative plaque signed by Marco Wittman offers added exclusivity.
A strict two-seater, the BMW M4 DTM comes with the Race Package, including a white-painted roll-over protection system, six-point harnesses and a fire extinguisher.
Adjustable suspension allows bespoke tuning for the task at hand
For the ultimate in adjustability the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition is fitted with three-way adjustable M Coilover Suspension that is fitted with remote reservoirs for precise response. Low- and high-speed bump, as well as rebound, are adjustable via the supplied tool kit.
Standard equipment highlights
In addition to the track-focused mechanical specification, the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition remains equipped for everyday use. BMW’s Professional Navigation System with iDrive functionality is standard and the vehicle is also equipped with air conditioning, front and rear park distance control and auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors.
BMW’s head-up display, tyre pressure monitoring and the full suite of ConnectedDrive services are also fitted as standard.
The M4 DTM Champion Edition boasts adaptive LED headlights with BMW Selective Beam and OLED taillights. Debuting as a world first on the rear of the M4 GTS, this unique lighting system further highlights the high-end technology available on the M4 DTM Champion Edition.
