FCA Australia has today revealed more details of the stunning Abarth 124 Spider, with the launch of a new website for customers to register their interest in the ultimate Italian roadster.

The new Abarth 124 spider is set to sweep a new generation off their feet with its stunning Italian design and thrilling performance. It combines an authentic roadster experience packed with performance and technology, paired with unmistakable Italian design.

Abarth customers can now visit to register their interest, and to discover preliminary specification, safety and personalisation options. The website also hosts the first clip of the Abarth 124 in action, taking viewers on a journey from the iconic Abarths of the past to the current 124 Spider.

Powered by Abarth’s performance-tested 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo engine delivering 125kW and 250Nm, the Abarth 124 Spider will climb from 0-100km/h in just 6.8secs, and on to a top speed of 230km/h. And for that instantly recognisable soundtrack the Abarth 124 arrives equipped with a sports exhaust as standard, with a dual-mode Record Monza exhaust also available.

The 124 also revives one of motoring’s most iconic nameplates, bringing classic Italian styling and exhilarating performance to a new generation. To ensure all driving styles are catered for, the Abarth 124 will be available with a quick and accurate six-speed manual, or with a six-speed automatic gearbox that’s been careful tuned to exploit all of the engine’s torque. Using the lever or the paddles behind the steering wheel, shifting is fast and precise. The performance of the car is boosted even further by setting “Sport” mode on the driving mode selector, immediately adjusting throttle response and steering inputs for a more exhilarating drive.

Designed at Centro Stile in Turin, Italy, the new Abarth 124 Spider delivers a modern adaptation of a legend. The iconic styling of the 124 Spider features cues from one of Fiat’s most beautiful cars of all time – the original Spider – and translates them for a new generation of motoring enthusiasts.

Pricing and full specification detail will be revealed closer to the vehicle’s local launch in the fourth quarter of 2016
