ABOVE: 2022 all new Nissan Z
“The fastest, most powerful and most exciting Z car ever is now ready to launch in Australia, and I can’t wait for people to climb behind the wheel of this new icon.”
The rear-wheel drive Z comes with a close-ratio manual gearbox celebrating true Nissan Z car style. It harkens back to the halcyon days of the 240Z launched in September 1970.
The all-new Z comes with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 with variable valve timing, and small-diameter turbochargers.
This improves power to weight by 13 per cent over the Z’s predecessor, taking 15 per cent off the 0-100 time.
Power figures are an enticing 298kW/475Nm. This is 31% more power than its predecessor.
Standard Zs have scrumptious leather-accented interior, launch control, a customisable 12.3-inch driver’s display, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, all topped off by three drive modes: Standard, Enhanced and Sport.
The Z’s six-speed manual has a high-performance clutch from Japanese motor racing specialist Exedy. The engine/gearbox combo links the rear wheels via a carbon-fibre composite driveshaft. If you don’t fancy a shift-em-yourself jobby, a nine-speed automatic with its fly-by-wire rapid response has 2 drive modes, standard and sport.
All automatics come with launch control system, while manual drivers get Downshift Rev Matching.
This new Z car continues a long line of favourite gay cars, and is on sale in Australia in mid-2022.
