In what must be a disappointment, but not a surprise, the Citroën C4 got a 4-star safety from ANCAP. The Citroën C4 was launched in October in Australia and NZ, with safety results pending.

It isn’t easy to get 5 stars, but it is worth noting that a score will be limited by the lowest score for a particular criterion. In Citroën C4’s case, it was passenger protection during a side impact.

Since 2020, a centre airbag has been the go-to for best results. It stops the front passengers from injuring each other when a sideways force is encountered. Without this protection, the Citroën scored 0.12 points out of 4.00 points.

Scores in brief:

  • 76 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP)
  • 81 per cent for Child Occupant Protection (COP)
  • 57 per cent for Vulnerable Road User Protection (VRUP)
  • 62 per cent for Safety Assist

On the bright side, Citroën C4 scored 5 stars in Child Occupant Protection, leaving the other areas a 4 star rating.
