LEXUS LC CONVERTIBLE MAKES AUSTRALIAN DEBUT
Lexus has flown its first LC convertible to Australia, with the one-off prototype of the brand’s future flagship sports car ready to take centre stage at LANDMARK by Lexus – a premier three-level design project formerly known as the Lexus Design Pavilion.
Headlining the Melbourne Cup Carnival this November, the luxuriously redefined and carefully curated LANDMARK by Lexus offers bespoke hospitality perfectly aligned with the newest and most exotic forthcoming member of the Lexus global family.
This prototype of the new LC convertible made its dynamic world debut in July this year on the hill course at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, a celebration of the finest modern and classic sports cars held outside of London.
The LC convertible prototype was driven up the hill at Goodwood by Nick Cassidy, who competes for Lexus in the GT500 class of the Japan Super GT series, and the event was used to announce that the LC convertible will become a production reality.
Positioned within LANDMARK by Lexus the LC convertible prototype will continue to utilise a “digital camouflage” – creating intrigue around the design of the second flagship Lexus sports car alongside the stunning LC coupe.
Lexus chief executive Scott Thompson said the new LANDMARK by Lexus and first LC convertible prototype join in advancing the presence of Lexus as a luxury lifestyle brand.
“Ensuring the LC convertible prototype makes its local debut at the Melbourne Cup Carnival signals how important luxury hospitality and the luxury market is to Lexus in Australia,” Mr Thompson said.
“Guests in our incredible LANDMARK by Lexus will be amazed to see the stunning LC in its newest convertible bodystyle ahead of production.”
Long, low and lean, the LC convertible will share the coupe’s athletic proportions, but project its own, distinct identity.
Its large wheels and short overhangs will signal its performance pedigree and rewarding driving experience.
The potential evolution of the LC range to include a convertible was signposted at the North American International Auto Show in January, where Lexus revealed the LC Convertible Concept.
The concept’s design goal was to express “ultimate beauty”. It provoked an enthusiastic response from both industry experts and the public.
Like the LC itself, the concept car was honoured on its debut with a prestigious EyesOn Design Award at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The LC has become established as one of the most sought-after and internationally acclaimed models Lexus has ever created, thanks to its combination of striking design, fine craftsmanship and exhilarating performance.
Detailed specifications and timings for the LC convertible’s market introduction will be announced later.
