2018 Peugeot 5008 Video

We drove the 5008 SUV and optional E Kick electric scooter in the Blue Mountains recently.

The Australian launch introduced new MD, Anouk Poelmann (pronounced Pullman), as well as the new an innovative “last mile” E Kick scooter.

5008 (five thousand and eight) SUV has a raft of inclusions including: Satnav, active lane guidance, active cruise control There are 3 trim levels, 2 engines, and 1 transmission.

5008 is a return to form by Peugeot Citroen with excellent handling, and up to date cabin tech.

All cars have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the nifty inclusions like tray tables on the front seats for the use of the 2nd row passengers.

The 3rd row can be removed completely leaving the space available for storage, and weigh only 11kg each.

Car makers know most SUVs are ever taken off road, and that many buyers choose a 2-wheel drive option if it is available. Peugeot saves weight by not having an AWD version.

There is an option which includes various drive modes for more difficult terrain. We used this in the 3008, which shares a platform with 5008

The new Peugeot reversing camera system now has 360° view which allows accurate judging of very small distances when parking close to objects. There are security uses too. You can clearly see anyone who might be hiding outside the car.

If the system detects objects while you’re reversing, the cameras will auto-zoom in to give you a better view.

The 2 engines are: 121kW, 240Nm, 1.6L turbo-petrol, and top-of-the-line GT variants powered by a 133kW, 400Nm turbo-diesel.

A 6-speed AISIN automatic is the only transmission option, and is extremely smoot. However, it is a few cogs short of the 7, 8 and 9 speed autos which are now commonplace. 10 speed autos are now making appearances in other brands.

All Peugeots now carry a 5 year warranty.
