Today, Skoda Australia launched its fabulous RS245, which is an upgraded and retuned version of the Octavia RS.

The 245 adds a host of features, as well as a retuned engine offering an extra 11kw of power, and 20 Nm of torque.

Tech and Luxury packs are still available, however some of the features are included in the standard 245.

Features include: active cruise control, active lane guidance, Autonomous Emergency Braking, blind spot monitor, mechanical extended diff lock, 9.2” touch screen, 19” Xtreme black alloy wheels, Alcantara/leather seats, power seats, auto folding mirrors, black exhaust pipes, RS245 instrument cluster, 9 airbags, 360 ° rear view camera, fatigue detection, passenger protect assist, multi-Collison brake, adaptive LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, Drive mode selection, dual zone climate control, Auto lights and wipers, and, an umbrella.

Of course, there is much more but it is looking like a shopping list as it is. You can see the full list on Skoda’s website here.

The RS family of Octvias includes a diesel if that is your thing, but the shining star is the 180kw RS245.

When a racing driver offers to take you for a spin, you say yes.

Professional drivers have a unique perspective on exactly how a car should drive. Of course, Steve Owen was being paid by Skoda to put up with us, but you can tell when someone’s heart is in it, and his was.

He enjoyed himself and took a lot of time to explain exactly why and RS245 was good on a track.

Of particular note were comments about handling, and the fact that a driver who has vast power at his fingertips in his day job, chooses a DSG for its speed of change.

Have a look at the video and let u know what you think.
