Available to order now for delivery from September 2014

Launched in February this year, BMW’s stylish 2 Series Coupé line-up has received high acclaim for the sporty and dynamic performance of the 220i, 220d and stunning M235i variants.  Now, the 2 Series line-up is set to become even more appealing with BMW Group Australia today announcing details and pricing of the new BMW 228i Coupé.

According to Toni Andreevski, General Manager of Marketing for BMW Group Australia, the new BMW 228i Coupé is the perfect addition to the 2 Series Coupé range.

“The multi-award winning engine used in the 328i and 428i has proved to be the sweet spot in their respective ranges, delivering impressive power with a rorty exhaust note and remarkable efficiency,” Andreevski said.

“The 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo engine has received critical acclaim from automotive experts, being awarded international engine of the year in its category for the last two years, so naturally we’re delighted to add this fantastic power plant to our beautiful 2 Series Coupé body,” Andreevski said.

Priced from $64,400, the BMW 228i Coupé is powered by the BMW’s 2.0-litreTwinPower turbo four cylinder petrol engine which develops 180 kW and 350 Nm. This propels the BMW 228i Coupé from 0-100 km/h in a spritely 5.7 seconds whilst consuming only 6.3 l/100 km on the combined cycle.

Based on the impressive standard equipment included in the entry level 220i and 220d models, the BMW 228i Coupé boasts features such as Navigation System Business which includes a high-res 6.5-inch colour screen, a six-speaker audio system with auxiliary in and USB connection and convenience telephony with extended smartphone connectivity which allows extended Bluetooth functionality such as voice control, audio streaming and pairing of multiple devices.

Also included is the automatic climate control system, heat/sun protection window glazing, sports seats, front and rear Park Distance Control (front optional on 220i and 220d), auto headlight control, rain sensor as well as an anti-dazzle interior rear view mirror, 60:40 split fold rear seats and numerous storage options further enhance the comfort and convenience features in this model.

Naturally the BMW 228i Coupé includes a full suite of safety features such as dynamic stability control, dynamic braking lights, a full complement of airbags and an active bonnet to improve pedestrian protection.

Along with the 2 Series Coupé entry level models, the BMW 228i Coupé also includes either the ‘Sport Line or ‘Modern Line’ as standard. Both of these standard packages are designed to create a specific character for the car.

However, as it takes its place above the 220i and 220d within the range, the BMW 228i Coupé is further enhanced with features such as 18-inch alloy wheels (styling dependant on ‘Line’ selected), variable sports steering, the addition of front Park Distance Control, Bi-Xenon headlights with headlight washer system and Dakota leather upholstery as well as BMW high-gloss shadowline or Chrome line exterior trims depending on the ‘Line’ selected.

Also available for the BMW 2 Series Coupé is BMW ConnectedDrive, which provides access to a comprehensive range of in-car services and apps for unrivalled connectivity. This means all models in the new BMW 2 Series range will come equipped with a permanent SIM card installed with BMW Teleservices and Intelligent emergency call activated.

Optionally available is the ConnectedDrive Lifestyle package which includes ConnectedDrive services (BMW Online and apps) and Remote services or the ConnectedDrive Freedom package which adds Real Time Traffic Information and Concierge services on top of the ConnectedDrive services and remote services.

All new BMW 2 Series Coupé models’ maintenance requirements are controlled by BMW’s Condition Based Service (CBS) program which identifies the condition of a vehicle based on actual use, realising the full potential of a vehicle and minimising costs.

Under the CBS system, sensors and advanced algorithms monitor and calculate the conditions in which the vehicle is used including mileage, time elapsed since the last service, fuel consumption and how the vehicle is driven.  The information captured is used to determine the vehicle’s maintenance requirements, indentifying that either an annual vehicle inspection or an oil service is due.

In addition, BMW service and selected maintenance costs can now be covered by a single, one-off advance payment with BMW Service Inclusive (BSI). BSI offers two packages: BMW Service Inclusive Basic provides scheduled servicing cover, while BMW Service Inclusive Plus combines scheduled servicing and selected maintenance items. Based on individual lifestyle needs, a year range and kilometre option is selected, starting from 3 years/60,000kms. The BSI plan provides a long-term solution enabling cover to be extended and transferred to future vehicle owners before expiry.
