Jaecoo Australia has locked in the J5 EV for local launch, confirming a single, fully loaded variant called Track, due in showrooms January 2026. It’s a tidy, confident move in a crowded EV market, and yes, it’s proudly pet-friendly too.
The Track arrives stacked with kit, including a clever synthetic leather interior made from a silicone-based material that’s antibacterial, hard-wearing and blissfully easy to wipe down after muddy paws or a weekend away with your favourite four-legged (or two-legged) companion. Consider it an EV that loves dogs and disco.
Power comes from a single electric motor producing 155kW and 288Nm, driving the front wheels. Performance is brisk rather than shouty, with 0–100km/h in 7.7 seconds and energy use rated at a frugal 143Wh/km. Driving range sits at up to 402km (WLTP), while DC fast charging can take the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in just 28 minutes. There’s also V2L on board, because camping trips, beach days and pop-up parties are part of the brief.
Design-wise, the J5 leans into rugged adventure cues without going full bush cosplay. An EV-specific grille with active aero, slimline LED headlights, a full-width rear light bar and 18-inch aero alloys give it presence without shouting. Inside, the vibe is clean and modern, centred around a large 13.2-inch touchscreen that controls most functions, including climate, audio and smartphone integration.

Standard features on the Track include heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof with powered sunshade, acoustic front door glass and a full 360-degree camera system. Tech lovers are covered with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 50W wireless charger and voice control activated by “Hello Jaecoo”.
Safety is comprehensive, with seven airbags and a full suite of active systems including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance and forward collision warning.
Backing it all up is an 8-year unlimited kilometre vehicle warranty, eight years of capped-price servicing and an eight-year unlimited kilometre battery warranty. Translation: drive further, worry less, and maybe sing karaoke while you’re at it.
Globally, the Omoda Jaecoo brand is on a roll, with strong sales growth and multiple international awards already under its belt. If the local J5 EV Track drives as well as it reads, January can’t come soon enough.
