All New Corolla Cross PLUS Lexus Models at Chicago Motor Show.

Toyota and Lexus have showcased brand new models at the Chicago Motor Show July 15-19 at McCormick Place, located at 2301 S King Dr.

Toyota

New models included all-new 2022 Corolla Cross, GR 86 the Tacoma TRD Pro 3.0 and Tacoma Trail Edition and 4Runner TRD Sport.

Corolla Cross not just a high-riding Corolla. It is a proper AWD small SUV but for those not wanting the AWD model, a cheaper FWD Cross can be had. Like Corolla, Corolla Cross uses the TNGA platform which is scalable to all sizes, and all drive trains. It can take electrified motors and hybrid systems too.

Corolla will use Toyota’s 169hp 2.0L Dynamic Force engine, coupled to the Direct Shift CVT from Corolla sedan’s sportier “S” grades. It can tow 1500 lbs. AWD models have fully independent suspension, and FWD Corolla Cross models have a torsion beam rear setup.

GR 86 will keep the rear-wheel-drive setup, with a 2.4L naturally aspirated, boxer 4cylinder. Power is up from the pervious model, from 205 to 228 hp with an increase in torque from 156 to 184 lb.-ft. in manual cars.

GR 86 comes in 2 versions: GR 86 and GR 86 Premium. The cabin improvements include an 8” infotainment touch screen and six speakers comes on the standard grade, and eight-speakers on the Premium grade.  The system has Toyota Connected Services, Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto with NFC pairing, plus 3 months of Sirius-XM® three-Month All Access as a trial.

2022 Tacoma TRD Pro 3.0 has a heightened suspension lift. Tacoma Trail Edition comes as a 4×4-only package that is based on the Tacoma 4×4 Double Cab. While the 2022 4Runner gets TRD Sport grades to added to the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro. The latter are aimed at off-roaders, TRD Sport is for buyers who are going preferring a classy around-towner

Lexus

Lexus will debut the all new NX small SUV. NX is built on an all new platform. Inclusions are a panoramic moonroof, and new 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels. Engines include turbo petrol and hybrid powertrains. Those powertrains are a new 2.5L in-line 4-cylinder engine, and the first-ever Lexus Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, the NX 450h+.

other 2022 Lexus NX inclusions include an all-new Lexus Interface, plus next-generation technology that warn occupants of oncoming traffic so as doors won’t be opened. Doors now have electric latches which will not operate if sensors detect danger. The 2022 NX also comes equipped with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0.

IS 500 is back. The stunning performance of the LEXUS 5.0L V8 is exclusive to North America with 500 numbered units. The V8 has a thumping 472 hp and 395 lb.-ft of naturally aspirated V8 joy.

Also on show is an LX wrapped in a unique design to support Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation. This cancer charity was set up after Cal Sutter, a 12-year-old South Elgin Little League all-star, was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Sadly, he lost his battle in 2006, but his courage is remembered by $13 million raised in his name. It provides support to families like Cal’s at a time when they are experiencing some of the worst days of their lives.
