This time, Cobra uses no petrol, and makes no sound, Cobra has gone electric.
The first AC Cobra Series 1 electric in final development shortly before deliveries begin.
AC Cobra Series 1 electric is a faithful recreation of the AC Cobra, minus the snarling petrol giant of an engine, but is no less a performer.
the AC Cobra Series 4 electric was announced in June, but the launch of the Series 1 electric marks a milestone for a company whose heritage stretches back 120 years.
AC Cobra Series 1 electric is created in conjunction with Derby based technical partner Falcon Electric, to bring the EV drivetrain into a famous car to make sure it is in keeping with the personality and performance that has made AC’s one of the most copied cars of all time.

Alan Lubinsky, Chief Executive of AC Cars for more than two decades, said: “I’m so proud of the team behind this project, and the hours that have been invested in making this car so special. This is British engineering and technology at its finest, upholding AC Car’s approach to producing only the finest hand-built sports cars .”
Manufacture has been held up by supply issues, giving the engineering team time to rejig one or two of the car’s core principles. This means the original plans will now surpass original estimates. Weight, acceleration and handing got a fine tune to produce a car that is every inch a modern version of the original.
Dawn of the new Cobras
People may not know what the Cobra is when they see it, but they will not mistake its distinct look
It started with the AC Ace in 1962 when AC shoehorned a Ford small block V8 into a tiny two-seater creating an instant icon in the process.
60 years later, the EV driveline as remarkable as that first V8, allowing the famous British name to sell highly desirable high-performance cars that are fit for the future.
The performance is stunning. A 0-62mph or around 4secs means the Series 1 electric packs a punch akin to the early cars but with the near instant torque EVs are known for. Range is around 150 miles between charges which is more than enough for a grand tour, with breaks.
Only58 AC Cobra Series 1 electric cars will be made, and will sell for £138,000, plus on the road charges, it will be available in four AC Car colours: electric blue, electric black, electric white and electric green.
