BMW Releases All New X1 Details & Pricing with iX1 to Follow

All New BMW X1 debuts as sDrive18i for $53,900 and xDrive20i at $65,900, with BMW TwinPower Turbo engines with seven-speed Steptronic transmission and double clutch as standard.

2023 sees the addition of the iX1 xDrive30 early in the year, the first electric X1, which BMW hopes will introduce a newer, younger audience to the joys of EV motoring. BMW will then have 12 electrified models in the garage.

All new X1 brings  slimline LED lights as well as a host of new features. X1 is 4500mm long,  53mm longer than the old model. At 1845mm wide, it is 24mm wider, 44mm higher at 1642mm, with a  wheelbase that is 2692mm, 22mm more than the predecessor

The base model includes Adaptive LED headlights, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Head-Up Display, Navigation system with augmented reality view and Driving Assistant Plus with Active Cruise Control that integrates Stop&Go functionality.

X1 xDrive20i adds BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, along with Driving Assistant Professional with Steering and Lane Control Assistant.

All X1 models have Parking assistant Plus with Surround View cameras, Remote 3D view, Reversing Assistant, Drive Recorder, Mirror Package with anti-dazzle function and auto-dipping function and Reversing Camera, sport leather steering wheel, two-zone climate control, a rain sensor, automatic headlight, four USB-C ports, and two 12-volt power sockets.

Like the BMW iX, launched in Australia last year, X1 comes with a remained interior, notably:

  • BMW Curved Display with high resolution 10.7-inch Control Display and 10.25-inch instrument cluster
  • BMW Operating System 8 new generation software interface
  • New rocker switch style gear selector
  • Newly developed seats with increased comfort and support
  • New upholstery styles with perforated Sensatec as base offering and Leather Vernasca available with quilting pattern for the first time
  • Floating armrest design with control panel and My Modes experience switch
  • Wireless smartphone charging in portrait style cradle
  • Redesigned sports steering wheel and availability of M Sport steering wheel
  • Touchscreen climate control interface

Via the app BMW X1 owners will activate,, then rent features already installed in their vehicles, such as:

Front heated seats for sDrive18i model, something that is standard on the X1 xDrive20i.

This rental model will allow steering wheel heating on both models. BMW promises more details closer to launch.

The new BMW X1 will launch in Australia with two petrol variants that both deliver high levels of response and efficiency.

Engines:

X1 sDrive18i has a 115kW/230Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo which uses 6.5 litres per 100km# on the combined cycle. Power goes to the front wheels through a seven-speed Steptronic transmission and double clutch set-up.

X1 xDrive20i comes with a 150kW/300Nm four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo rating at 7.4 litres per 100km#. The transmission is also a Steptronic transmission with a double clutch, to get the power to the ground through all-wheel-drive xDrive.
