Ford Australia Cashes in with New Ranger Platinum Model

The Ranger Platinum will be as capable as any other Ranger, but has added comfort and touches of up-market luxury

“We listened hard to our customers throughout the design and development of the Next-Generation Ranger, and in doing so we reinvented the Pick-Up Truck segment,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia.

“We’ve seen growth in high-end variants in this segment over recent years, so we challenged ourselves to create a vehicle that provides all of our customer’s wants and needs.”

“Ranger Platinum gives customers the chance to have their cake and eat it too; they get the Next-Gen Ranger’s inherent capability with a serious dose of class and sophistication,” said Birkic.

Ranger Platinum comes as a five-seat, double cab with the 184kW/600Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel. The engine put the power to the electronically controlled full-time four-wheel drive system, through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The strong combination gives all Rangers a towing capacity 3,500kg.

“Ranger Platinum is focused on owners who need a work truck that combines both premium luxury for the family, and the flexibility of a work truck for their business,” said Ian Foston, chief platform engineer, Ranger. “We’ve really focused on creating a premium exterior and gold-class interior experience with Ranger Platinum.”
