Hyundai has revealed its all-new ELEXIO electric SUV in China, developed with Beijing Hyundai under the “In China, For China, To Global” strategy. Built on Hyundai’s dedicated E-GMP platform, the ELEXIO blends minimalist styling with strong safety credentials and an emphasis on family practicality. It will reach Australia in early 2026.
The design is clean and unfussy — crisp body lines, crystal-square headlights, and a balanced stance that avoids the excess often seen in large SUVs. Inside, Hyundai has opted for a tech-forward but calm layout, centred around a 27-inch 4K widescreen display driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 chip. A Cyber Eye head-up display improves visibility, while an eight-speaker BOSE system with Dolby Atmos brings unexpected richness to the cabin soundscape.

Practicality comes in the form of 506 litres of boot space (expandable to 1,540L), multiple storage areas, and integrated fatigue detection to help keep the driver alert. Safety is comprehensive — nine airbags, a high-strength 720° body structure, and mechanical pop-out door handles for emergencies.
Power comes from an 88.1kWh battery offering up to 722km of range (CLTC), or around 500km WLTP, with 30–80% DC charging in about 27 minutes. Hyundai says the ELEXIO is designed for both daily commuting and long-distance family travel.
The launch marks an important milestone in Hyundai’s Chinese EV strategy, with plans to expand the NEV range to include sedans and SUVs by 2030. Whether it can carve out its own niche in Australia’s increasingly crowded EV segment remains to be seen — but it looks like Hyundai isn’t easing off the accelerator anytime soon.
