Leapmotor Australia has unveiled the C10 AWD Sports+ Special Edition, a dual-motor performance SUV that delivers supercar acceleration at a price that makes established rivals look rather silly.
The numbers are difficult to argue with. The standard C10 produces a modest 160kW and 320Nm. The Sports+ Special Edition produces 440kW and 760Nm. That is not a typo. Leapmotor has nearly tripled the power output and dispatches the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.0 seconds flat.
For context, that matches a Porsche Taycan 4S. The Leapmotor costs $53,888.
What Makes It Special
The Sports+ gets more than just additional motors. An 800V architecture allows DC fast charging at up to still-modest180kW, meaning 30% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes. The battery grows to 81.9kWh LFP, delivering up to 510km NEDC range (437km WLTP for those who prefer realistic figures, and even less for those of us in the know).
The Intelligent AWD system manages grip across both axles with millisecond response times, automatically switching between single and dual-motor operation depending on conditions. On gravel, rain, snow, or light off-road work, the system keeps all four wheels pulling in the same direction as expected from all AWD vehicles.
The Styling
Available exclusively in Pearl White with black Sports+ side decals or Metallic Black with grey Sports+ side decals, the exterior treatment is subtle but erm, subtle. Sports+ badging appears at the rear, while the cabin gets exclusive floor mats and cargo mat with red stitching. I can hardly contain myself. The front mats are embroidered, because Leapmotor loves a bit of fancy schmancy glow-up.

Standard Equipment
The Sports+ comes loaded to the gunnels. The 14.6-inch central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, joined by a 10.25-inch driver display. There are 20-inch alloy wheels, a 12-speaker audio system, fixed panoramic glass roof with electric sunshade, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, 360-degree camera with integrated dashcam, wireless phone charging, and LEAP Pilot L2 driver assistance. we’ll test that at a later date
The silicone leather seats carry OEKO-TEX certification for those who care about such things, and the interior features multi-colour ambient lighting for those who care about such other things.
Warranty and Servicing
Leapmotor Care covers 2025 and later vehicles with a 6-year/150,000km vehicle warranty and 8 years of roadside assistance. The battery gets 8 years or 160,000km coverage for manufacturing faults. You’d hope for unlimited KM’s but hey ho. Capped-price servicing runs for 8 years with 12-month service intervals.
The Competition Problem
The C10 AWD Sports+ creates an awkward situation for established brands. At $53,888, it undercuts the Tesla Model Y Performance while matching its acceleration, but probably not the sophistaction. It embarrasses anything from tralegacy at the same price point. The BYD Sealion 7 Performance offers similar straight-line pace but costs more and delivers less range. Chinese car makers continue to be a
Leapmotor arrives in April. Whether Australian buyers are ready for a Chinese brand offering supercar performance at family SUV prices remains to be seen. But at 440kW for $54,000, the C10 AWD Sports+ makes a compelling argument.
