Ford says the new car, Designed and developed in Australia, improves on the success of the existing ute.
There are some tasty new engines, permanent AWD on some models, a sexy new look, and cabin upgrades to make tradies quiver with excitement.
The 3.0L V6 , 2.0L bi turbo diesel, and 3.0 V6 Ecoboost petrol models all have the 10-speed automatic.
The tray now takes a euro-pallet and the damping now makes unladen Rangers a little less bouncy.
The looks follow the larger Ford trucks, and is one that looks far more modern, with the C Shaped DTRLs
Wildtrack and Raptor get lavish with extra goodies such as enhanced drive modes including Rock Crawl and Baja. Part time 4X4 models use their AWD off-road only, as do the Full Time 4WD models except for Raptor which can use it on all surfaces all of the time.
There are enhanced cameras with 3600 views. Infotainment is now SYNC 4A, with Raptor having a 12” screen and a 12.4” instrument cluster. The system comes with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a clever navigation system that includes such things as traffic updates and fuel pricing.
Some of the traditional controls are now within the infotainment system, and there is a USB in the rearview mirror for dashcams.

For me, the highlight is a new generation of Matrix LED headlights for Raptor that are optional on Wildtrack.
Among the other highlights are external lighting zones for camping or working, and the remote start keeps doors locked until a key is detected.
There is Bose sound, and new climate control system, and a range of colours including a sporty Sedona red.
