I certainly can’t think of anything better!
Supremely smooth and quiet and powerful. It’s no wonder Mercedes Benz closed Maybach. What would you rather, a million dollar Merc or a million dollar Rolls Royce
Or in the UK, a Rolls Royce for half the price of the Maybach!
They were about the same price here. The equiv of about 800,000 GPBs (I don’t have an lbs symbol and can’t be bothered looking for it). No one can tell Aussies why they pay double or more than most others countries. A Drophead is about 1.3-1.4 $million (1,00,000 GBP). Who can justify that? When I do a review I usually take a look at the prices paid elsewhere in the world. Having said that our insureance prices are a fraction of those paid in the UK. Swings and roundabouts I guess.
Those prices are unbelievable! Insurance might be more here, but that doesn’t justify a £700,000 price difference!
I did a story about it once. It isn’t tax so that leaves only 1 thing, it;s the price set by car makers as we are not allowed to buy our cars elsewhere. It is against the law more or less as we then have to pay duty to make the privately imported car the same price as the local 1. Can you imagine that in the UK? there’d be an outcry, but alas we are surrounded by water and a very long way from anywhere else. They used to blame the USD but when we were at $1.10 the car prices didn’t come down. The only explanation is that the car makers charge whatever they want and lobby the government to ensure it’s our only choice.
