BMW’s Sport Collection has a new baby, and she’s come dressed to impress. Meet the 2025 BMW X1 sDrive18i Sport Collection – the new entry point to the X1 range, wearing an M Sport outfit and oozing confidence at a sharp $72,900 drive-away price.
It’s the first time ever the full M Sport package has been standard on a base X1. That means big front air intakes, a rear diffuser that looks ready for the Nürburgring (or at least Bondi Junction), and exclusive 18-inch double-spoke bi-colour alloys that wouldn’t be out of place on Oxford Street.
The pampering continues inside, with heated Veganza seats, electric adjustment with memory for the driver, a panoramic glass sunroof, and lashings of M Aluminium Hexacube trim to add that dash of performance flair. There’s no badge cluttering the back either – just a clean, muscular tail end that lets the design do the talking.

Underneath, adaptive M suspension tightens up the ride while keeping it comfy for latte runs or weekend getaways. You’ll also get the latest in BMW’s driver and parking assistance tech, wrapped in the X1’s now roomier, more refined third-gen body. And with a choice of classic metallic paints – from Black Sapphire to that cheeky M Portimao Blue – she’s every bit the stylish city SUV with country-club aspirations.
Arriving in Q3 2025, the X1 sDrive18i Sport Collection is a cheeky little number that brings a little Euro flair, premium gear, and M Sport drama – all without breaking the bank (if you’re rich).
Here’s a cheeky side-by-side to see how the 2025 BMW X1 sDrive18i Sport Collection stacks up against two of its fiercest Euro frenemies: the Audi Q3 35 TFSI S line and the Volvo XC40 Plus B4. Let the premium compact SUV showdown commence.
💃 Style & Presence
BMW X1 sDrive18i Sport Collection
- M Sport pack as standard: chunky front intakes, diffuser, exclusive 18″ alloys
- Sleek, sculpted body with metallic paint options incl. M Portimao Blue
- Badge delete for that de-badged Instagram influencer vibe
Audi Q3 35 TFSI S line
- Subtle sophistication with S line trimmings
- LED headlights, 19″ wheels, but feels more North Shore mum than inner-city gay
- Clean but safe – plays it cool, maybe too cool
Volvo XC40 Plus B4
- Boxy and bold in that Swedish way
- 19″ alloys, Thor’s Hammer headlights
- Feels like it listens to indie playlists and composts
💺 Interior & Comfort
BMW X1 Sport
- Heated Veganza seats (vegan leather, darling)
- Electric seats with memory, pano glass sunroof
- Hexacube trim, floating console, plenty of rear room
Audi Q3
- Leather-appointed seats, heated only up front
- 10.1” touchscreen, digital cockpit
- Feels premium, but you’ll be paying extra for sunroof and memory seats
Volvo XC40
- Leather-free textile/Microtech mix (very eco)
- Panoramic roof standard, Google built-in infotainment
- Cabin’s a vibe: minimalist but warm
🏎️ Performance & Handling
BMW X1
- FWD, 1.5L turbo, 115kW/230Nm
- Adaptive M suspension = sharper handling
- Feels the most “alive” when pushed
Audi Q3
- FWD, 1.4L turbo, 110kW/250Nm
- Softer suspension, geared more for comfort
- Quick-ish but lacks the X1’s zest
Volvo XC40
- Mild hybrid, 2.0L turbo, 145kW/300Nm
- Strongest performer on paper
- Smooth but not sporty – thinks it’s above such nonsense
💸 Price (Drive-Away Est.)
- BMW X1 Sport: $72,900
- Audi Q3 S line: ~$72,000 (with similar options)
- Volvo XC40 Plus B4: ~$70,000
🏁 Verdict
The BMW X1 sDrive18i Sport Collection is the flirtiest of the bunch — sharp suit, punchy attitude, and a price that includes the glitz. The Audi Q3 is polished and handsome but plays it a bit safe. The Volvo XC40 is effortlessly cool and a great all-rounder, but not as spicy behind the wheel.
If you’re after euro prestige with some cheeky M Sport edge, the X1 takes the tiara.
