The all-new fourth-generation BMW 1 Series hatch comes to Australia at the end of 2024, with fresh styling, powertrains, advanced automated driving functions, digital solutions, and a more comprehensive standard specification list.

BMW1 Series starts front wheel drive with the entry-level 118. Its TwinPower 115kW/230Nm Turbo three-cylinder engine comes with a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission. Power is up 12kW and 10Nm from the previous 1 Series model. The flagship M135 xDrive has a M TwinPower Turbo engine good for 233kW/400Nm, and a 4.9 second 0-100kph sprint. M135 xDrive all-wheel-drive also has a seven-speed dual-clutch Steptronic transmission in place of the old eight-speed Sport Steptronic transmission.

The new BMW 1 Series has a long bonnet, set-back passenger cell, swooping roofline, and chucky rear end. It is longer by 42mm (4,361mm) and taller by 25mm (1,459mm), and is 1,800mm wide with a wheelbase of 2,670mm.

The M135 xDrive’s has exclusive elements like an M radiator grille, M mirror caps, and quad exhaust tailpipes.

BMW 1 Series leather-free cabin has a premium feel and space for five travellers. New seat design improves comfort and support, with several upholstery options. There is a new steering wheel, redesigned gear selector, and the BMW Curved Display, integrating a 10.25-inch Information Display and 10.7-inch central screen. Digital controls have replaced buttons for air conditioning.

BMW iDrive 9 with QuickSelect, promises intuitive operation and customisable QuickSelect widgets for easy access to functions.

The fourth-generation BMW 1 Series has improved body rigidity and chassis connection, for better handling, steering precision, and cornering dynamics. Updates include optimised chassis kinematics, preloaded anti-roll bar mounts, and new shock absorber technology. The integrated braking system and directly controlled wheel slip limitation help improve the drive experience further.

The BMW 1 Series will in Australian showrooms by the end of the year, with detailed specifications and pricing to follow.
