FHI has derived the BRZ name from the letter B in Boxer engine, R in rear-wheel drive, and Z in the word Zenith.
FHI says the name embodies ultimate passion for the new sports car and confidence in its distinctive constellation trademark and core technology – the horizontally opposed Boxer engine.
BRZ production is due to start in northern spring 2012.
A decision on whether the BRZ will come to Australia will not be made until later this year.
Keep your fingers crossed. We’ll bring you more from the Frankfurt Motor Show as news comes to hand.

You’re not on your own there. Boxer engines have been used by Subaru from day one. it’s also the thing that gives them that unique sound. I think it will be great if it makes it here but that’s why I said keeping fingers crossed.:)
interesting, I just googled ‘boxer engine’ Now I realize why so many people drive this car. Not as many engine parts to break down. Though.. I’d imagine that leakage is a common problem.
In my area of the country, Subaru owners all like to drive 15 miles below the speed limit, and they slow down a mile before their turns holding up trafic behind them. :)
