Mazda’s first fully electric sedan, the Mazda6e, is finally stepping into the UK spotlight — and they’ve chosen CarFest 2025 as its grand entrance. And no, it’s not just another EV on a plinth with a bloke in chinos telling you about torque. Mazda’s going full theatre: sponsoring not one but two stages at Chris Evans’ annual fundraising festival of chaos — StarFest and Club CarFest.
The all-new Mazda6e will be centre-stage (literally), parked near the demo track where punters can ogle its swoopy silhouette and fluttering light show. Yes, the charge lights flutter like butterfly wings. Because of course they do.
As i sit here, jealous of the time when I had a jawline, Mazda6e looks as sexy as all get-out so a big blast befitting its magnificence is just and fair. But, a passenger car?
CarFest itself is a mix of family-friendly music, celeb panels, food demos, wellness hubs, and comedians with Radio 2 accents. It’s raised over £27 million for kids’ charities so far, so it’s not all glamping and glitter.
Back to the car: The 6e is Mazda’s attempt to translate their beloved petrol-powered sedan into the electric era. It’s low, sleek, and full of JDM design metaphors. Frameless doors, hidden handles, animated lights, and a coupe-ish profile all scream “we’re not an SUV, we swear!” Inside, you get floating consoles, a massive screen, a panoramic roof, and trim options called Takumi and Takumi Plus (because apparently beige pleather and Nappa leather needed fancier names).

Under the skin, there’s a choice of two batteries in Europe:
– A 68.8kWh option with 300 miles of range and 22-minute fast charging
– Or an 80kWh version with 345 miles and a longer coffee break while it charges.
Both have rear-wheel drive, about 250-ish horsepower, and enough torque to keep things zippy. Mazda also threw in an extendable rear spoiler, because that’s the kind of unnecessary detail we fully support.
Mazda UK’s James Crouch said CarFest was the “perfect place” to debut the car. He’s not wrong — where else can you see Kim Wilde, Busted, a vegan taco masterclass, and a silent disco while ogling an electric liftback?
So yes, the Mazda6e is the main attraction, but Mazda’s also backing the stages where comedians like Lee Mack and Rob Brydon will crack jokes under a Mazda-branded backdrop. It’s all very wholesome. And loud.
Mazda’s not ditching petrol just yet — they’re still into hybrids and PHEVs — but this is their most confident EV play so far. The Mazda6e arrives in UK showrooms in 2026, but for now it’s busy mingling with DJs, sausage rolls, and middle-aged rock bands in Hampshire.
And honestly? That feels kind of perfect.
