BMW has come out swinging in 2025, cementing its position as the reigning queen of the premium automotive catwalk. With a glittering 5,628 vehicles delivered in Q1 alone, the Bavarian powerhouse isn’t just cruising—it’s strutting ahead of the competition like a model on the Milan runway, all while giving electric power a major plug.

The real sparkle in this quarter’s tiara? Battery electric vehicles now make up a stunning 26% of BMW’s total sales. That’s 1,481 fully electric babes finding new homes—up 4.1% from this time last year. It’s official: one in four BMWs now hums quietly on electrons, and with 16 fully electric variants in the catalogue, BMW leads the pack with the kind of variety usually reserved for drag brunch menus.

Of course, the chunky, sporty, ever-fabulous X range remains the backbone of BMW’s showroom success, gobbling up 66% of total sales. The compact yet punchy X1 led the dance with 1,089 units, followed by the dashing X3 (832) and the musclebound X5 (710). With the fourth-gen X3 flaunting a new plug-in hybrid variant boasting 91km of electric range and fast-charging in just over two hours, even the conservative buyers are finding themselves seduced by a bit of battery action.

But it wasn’t all spreadsheets and sales. BMW also painted the town blue-and-white with a splash of culture and a side of motorsport flair. From premiering the spicy M3 CS Touring globally on our sunburnt shores, to dominating the Bathurst 12-Hour podium with a glorious M4 GT3 one-two finish, the brand proved it’s equally at home on track, in galleries, and on stage. February also saw a touch of glam at Fed Square with the Opera for All concert and an art chat featuring the ever-iconic Ken Done—because even horsepower deserves a little highbrow.

Wolfgang Buechel, BMW Group Australia’s top bloke, summed it up: “BMW is here for the long haul.” And with the brand investing heavily in people, products, and Australia itself, it’s clear they’re not just flirting—they’re moving in.

For those still clinging to their combustion dreams, consider this your wake-up call: the future is electric, and BMW’s already hosting the party. Just don’t show up without a charger.
