ANCAP released the names of models who performed best in this year’s “2022 criteria” testing regime.
From January 2023, ANCAP and Euro NCAP will include a car’s ability to avoid a motorcyclist, the ability to reverse brake if a child is detected behind a car, and how easy a car is to get out of should it become submerged.

ANCAP has begun a process to clean up older ratings, and Volkswagen’s Passat has been one vehicle to have the 6-year expiration applied. As of 2022, it will have no current safety rating. It is one of a long list of vehicles that may be affected.
Both Staria and Staria-Load won a maximum 5 star ANCAP safety rating. Hyundai Staria is an eight-seat people move, and scored well across all areas.
All-New Volkswagen Caddy people mover, BMW iX, and Genesis GV70 were tested against the latest 2020-2022 rating criteria.
Australia’s Auto Safety rater, ANCAP, has issued 5 star ANCAP safety ratings for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 electric vehicle, as well as the Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge PHEV and T8 Recharge EV. The fossil fuel powered Hyundai Tucson has also been awarded a 5 star rating.
The Isuzu MU-X and Toyota Yaris Cross have today been awarded maximum 5 star safety ratings from independent vehicle safety authority, ANCAP.
