GAC has made its grand Australian entrance, sashaying into the local market with three models, sharp pricing, and the sort of confidence usually reserved for drag queens in six-inch heels. Backed by decades of partnerships with Toyota and Honda — plus its own hefty R&D war chest — GAC clearly hasn’t come to muck around.

The star of the show is the all-electric AION V, kicking off at $42,590 for the Premium and $44,590 for the Luxury. It’s a proper EV, not a half-baked compliance car, and arrives with the kind of calm, refined demeanour that screams “I don’t do petrol, darling.” Think smooth, silent cruising through Surry Hills, soaking up stares from jealous Teslas.

Then there’s the M8 PHEV, Australia’s first plug-in hybrid MPV, from $76,590. It’s basically a luxury lounge on wheels — a people-mover for the rich, the stylish, and the “I need to carry six passengers but refuse to suffer” crowd. Executive realness? Absolutely. Enough leather to make a Mardi Gras afterparty blush? Probably.

Finally, the EMZOOM steps in as the budget-friendly compact SUV at $25,590. One spec, big value. It’s the twinky little overachiever of the family — cheap, cheerful, extremely willing, and maybe even a little bit cute in the right lighting. Perfect for younger buyers, inner-west renters, and anyone wanting a stylish runabout without sacrificing a kidney.

GAC’s warranty program is where things get properly spicy. Petrol models get seven years unlimited kilometres. Electrics? Eight years, same unlimited km. Batteries get their own eight-year/200,000km warranty, plus every model is wrapped in five years of roadside assist. That’s a big middle finger to brands still peddling five-year limits.

And because GAC loves a sweetener, customers who order an AION V or M8 PHEV before 31 December 2025 score:
• a free 22kW EV wall charger
• $1,000 cashback
• plus a $500 fuel or charge card for those early “new car smell” kilometres.

At these prices, GAC isn’t just joining the market — it’s trying to steal the whole bloody show.
