Hyundai CEO Scott Grant to Leave Company

Hyundai Motor Company Australia (HMCA) regrets to announce the resignation of Chief Operating Officer Scott Grant.   Scott will leave the company after 4 and half years’ service to pursue a career passion outside the automotive industry.   “Having personally worked with Scott for the past two years I have always valued his contribution and leadership,” said HMCA Chief Executive Officer, JW Lee. “Whilst I am disappointed that we will lose Scott’s talent and experience, I am pleased for him that he will have the opportunity to follow his career dream.”   “Equally I am happy to say that HMCA is well positioned for success and the senior leadership team is well placed to execute plans driving the next phase of sustainable growth.”   Scott has reflected on his time with HMCA: “Leaving Hyundai and an industry I have worked in or around for over 30 years isn’t easy and I have been fortunate to have many great friends.”   “I feel Hyundai has some of its best years ahead, with outstanding product and an ever maturing organisation. Hyundai is truly becoming a global player and innovator with untapped possibilities.”   HMCA will now commence a process to identify a new Chief Operating Officer. In the interim, Scott’s responsibilities and leadership team will report directly to the CEO. Hyundai has been at the forefront of alternative fuel powered vehicle development, including hydrogen and hybrid propulsion. Mr Grant oversaw a boom time for Hyundai which he “hopes will continue for years to come,” he said in an interview in 2017. Set on a path upward swing, Hyundai will continue hydrogen development, and has already introduced a hybrid into its range. Hyundai also sells electric-only and hybrid vehicles. Australian’s would buy more EVs if government support were more like that in other countries. You can see Some of our Hyundai stories here, here and here.
