(Whitley, Coventry – 16 July 2014) The Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupé has been named Best Coupé at the Auto Express New Car Awards. The F-TYPE Coupé is the most dynamically capable, performance-focused, production Jaguar ever. Featuring a 404kW 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that will take it from 0-100km/h in just 4.2 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 300km/h, the ‘R’ derivative is the pinnacle of the F-TYPE line-up.

Auto Express is the country’s biggest selling weekly motoring magazine. Its road testers put every new car on the market through a thorough examination – and the New Car Awards is a celebration of the best models they’ve been behind the wheel of over the previous 12 months.

Auto Express Editor-in-Chief Steve Fowler said: “The Jaguar F-Type Coupé isn’t just one of the best cars we’ve driven this year, it’s one of the best cars we’ve ever driven. It’s a pulse-raising machine when it’s sitting still. Fire up the engine and the excitement level rises even further. Then take it for a drive and you’ll be in raptures – this is a car that delights every single sense. It’s one of the best British sports cars for a generation.”

The award was accepted by Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director Jeremy Hicks at a ceremony at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden, where the F-TYPE Convertible was also commended in the Roadster category.

Jeremy Hicks said: “It’s a huge honour to win an Auto Express New Car Award – and every one at Jaguar is thrilled that F-TYPE Coupé won its category ahead of some strong competition. The experienced road testers at Auto Express rate the F-TYPE Coupé as best in class, and that is a testament to the work of our designers and engineers, and to the efforts of everyone at our Castle Bromwich manufacturing facility in ensuring that every Jaguar produced is of outstanding quality.”

Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr Ralf Speth was also honoured at the awards, with inclusion in the Auto Express Hall of Fame. Announcing the award, Steve Fowler said: “This year our annual Brit List was expanded to have a bit of foreign flavour, when we counted down the top ten foreign nationals working in the UK car industry. One man stands head and shoulders above all others, having led two great British brands to incredible success.
