Get ready to make space in the driveway – Kia’s all-new 2025 Tasman (reserve here) ute is arriving in July, and it’s already sending shockwaves through the local dual-cab scene for its looks alone, one way or the other. Touted as Kia’s most local-market-focused vehicle yet, the Tasman isn’t just a toe in the water – it’s a full-body, in your face cannonball. With pricing kicking off at $42,990 RRP for the S 4×2 and climbing to princely $74,990 RRP for the off-road-focused X-Pro 4×4, there’s a trim for most pockets.

According to Kia Australia CEO Damien Meredith, “The Tasman is by far Kia Australia’s most anticipated model yet,” although, that was before we saw it right? The ute market here is fiercely loyal, deeply competitive, and deeply entrenched in lifestyle culture. So, Kia had to go hard – but have they hit the nail on the head, or bent it double.

Under the skin is a rugged, tech-packed utility vehicle that doesn’t just want to keep up with the establishment – it wants to park in their spot, tow their trailer, and whip up a bit of chatter while doing it.

All variants are built on an all-new ladder frame chassis and with payloads exceeding 1,000kg, even on the high-spec models. In fact, the base S 4×2 Single Cab Chassis (due later this year) leads the charge with a 1,124kg payload. Meanwhile, the entire lineup shares a braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, with Trailer Sway Control, Towing Mode, and an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller fitted as standard. Kia’s clearly taken towing seriously – there’s even a dedicated override button within easy reach of the driver.

The Dual Cab Pick-Up range will be first out of the gate in July, offered in five trim levels: S, SX, SX+, X-Line, and the flagship X-Pro. It looks considerably better without the hideous grey mud guards seen in early product shots. Versatility sees trims from fleet-friendly S models to adventure-ready X-Pro spec, which throws in off-road-specific engineering and enough comfort to rival some luxury SUVs, so they claim.

Eight exterior colours and three interior trim options let you personalise your ute to match your mood or your hi-vis. And for those on novated leases, there’s even a reduced-payload version to keep the accountant happy.

Whether you’re hauling gear, hitting the trails, or just want to look like you do, the Tasman is Kia’s ute-shaped challenge to local drivers.
