MG has rolled out the all-new MG7 fastback, and she’s arrived like a glam stranger at a dinner party — turning heads before anyone’s even had dessert. Beneath its long, sculpted silhouette sits a punchy 2.0-litre turbo engine, a cabin dripping in luxe, and tech that feels more “premium euro” than “mid-size value hero”.

Kevin Gannon from MG Motor Australia summed it up perfectly: driving should be fun and expressive. And the MG7 — with its quad pipes, dramatic fastback profile, frameless glass doors and deployable rear spoiler — doesn’t whisper; it smoulders.

Power comes in at 170kW and 380Nm, channelled through a 9-speed auto and an electronic limited-slip diff, riding on Michelin rubber wrapped around 19-inch alloys. Available in one generously equipped trim, the MG7 launches in emerald green at $44,990 plus on-roads, with optional colour upgrades and a plush Bordeaux Red interior available for a touch more

Inside, it’s all comfort and cleverness: panoramic roof, dual-zone climate, 6-way power driver’s seat, adaptive rear spoiler controls, customisable suspension, exhaust tuning, and a slick head-up display. There’s a Bose 14-speaker system for the musos, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and a 360° camera suite. MG expects a 5-star ANCAP result thanks to seven airbags, high-strength materials and their full MG Pilot safety tech pack.

Backed by MG’s national dealer network and a 10-year warranty (when serviced at MG dealers), the MG7 is clearly here to ruffle feathers — and maybe a few rivals’ wigs.
