In a dazzling start to 2025, MINI Australia has gone full throttle, delivering its best-ever first quarter with sales figures that would make even the most stoic Bavarian break into a celebratory yodel.

March alone saw a whopping 91% surge in sales compared to the same time last year, with 611 new MINIs zipping into driveways across the country. That’s not just good—it’s the best March in MINI’s history down under, rounding out a hat trick after a record January and February.

Mini has always had that certain something, a favourite as a classic car. Perhaps the brand is now getting some of the recognition it deserves years after becoming a BMW brand.

In total, 1,394 vehicles were delivered in Q1, marking a 69% increase over Q1 2024 and an eyebrow-raising 65% jump over the 10-year average. It’s like someone handed MINI a box of caffeinated beverages and let nature takes its natural course.

But it’s not just the petrol-powered darlings making noise—the BEV (battery electric vehicle) share hit a juicy 42%, signalling Aussies are finally leaning into sustainable driving with style. That includes the adorable new Aceman, which contributed 173 units to the total. Meanwhile, the Cooper 3- and 5-door Hatch took pole position with 634 sales, followed by the ever-practical Countryman with 553 units. The recently launched MINI Convertible fluttered in with 34 sales, just in time for top-down season.

Alex Brockhoff, General Manager of MINI Australia, was justifiably chuffed:

“We are incredibly proud of these exceptional results, which reflect both the increasing popularity of MINI and the growing consumer demand for our brand.”

He also teased the upcoming JCW (John Cooper Works) models arriving in Q2—because who doesn’t want even more go-kart fun with added growl?

True to form, MINI’s not just focused on numbers. The brand has gone 100% leather- and chrome-free as of 2024, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 98% thanks to clever use of recycled materials and textile interiors. Because saving the planet shouldn’t mean sacrificing sass or speed.

So if you’ve ever wanted a car that’s cheeky, chic, and carbon-conscious, MINI’s latest chapter might be the perfect time to jump on board—rainbow flags and all.
