MINI Aceman comes as the E (electric) or SE (sports electric) and arrives in Australia in Q4 2024. Aceman is all-electric, with the range adding to Mini’s small portfolio of electric city cars. It has come a long way from the original in so many ways.

The MINI Aceman delivers a fresh and innovative take on the iconic MINI design while representing the next generation of MINI – one that is built for the future while staying true to the brand’s heritage of go-kart driving fun and individuality,” said Alexander Brockhoff, General Manager of MINI Australia and New Zealand.

“The Aceman provides our customers with a greater choice of electrified, premium compact vehicles that are perfect for urban living and beyond. Its introduction is a testament to our unwavering commitment in electrifying the brand and our vision of a sustainable future.” he added.

The nitty Gritty

Entry level MINI Aceman E has a 38.5 kWh battery with 135kw/290Nm of power and a 0-100km/h of 7.9s with a range of 310.

MINI Aceman SE expands to a 49.2 kWh battery, a 406 range and 160kW/330Nm with a 0-100km/h in a leisurely 7.1 seconds.

Charging:

DC: The Aceman E has 75kw DC fast charging for a 28 minute top up from 10-80%, increasing to 95 kW for the Aceman SE with 31 minutes needed for 10-80%.

AC: Using an 11 kW AC charger gets Aceman E from 0-100% in 4hrs15min and SE taking 5hrs30min.

Mini electric Range

Mini Cooper electric is a fun little city runabout with a premium look and feel. Aceman adds range and space, and is a little bit retro. The 5-door body has a chic sloping roof in the manner of the once cute Paceman, and the similarity of the name not lost on us.

In a departure from the current range, new MINI headlights are an offset octagonal shape with switchable daytime running lights.

Cabin

In deference to the the original mini, Aceman has a display in the centre of the dash. Updated for the modern driver, this one is OLED and is augmented by a standard HUDs speed and other useful information right in front of the driver.

There is a sleek, clean dashboard, remodelled toggle bar and new style steering wheel layout. There is a Panoramic Glass Roof standard for both models, as is the recycled knit upholstery. No cows died to create a MINI.  E has Cloth/Vescin material, with Vescin vegan leather upholstery for the Aceman SE. Carmakers will go to any length to avoid use of the word “vinyl”.

The is room for five occupants, with 60:40 rear seats that increase luggage space from 300 litres to 1,005 litres.

The “Mini” experience mode.

MINI Experience Mode has its own set of sounds, visuals and colours. There are eight to choose from: Core, Green, Go-Kart, Personal, Timeless, Vivid, Balance and Trail.

Commands via ‘Hey MINI’ or the push-to-talk steering wheel button, activate the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant animated graphics. It uses friendly conversation to control functions such as “Hey MINI, I’m cold.” Mini will then turn up the heating.

The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant learns from its master’s commands and will eventually use geo-based data to open a car park door, for example. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

Environmental Consideration.

Sustainability is kept in mind during the lifespan of MINI Aceman. MINI has been 100 per cent leather-free and chrome-free since 2024, using sensible recycled or low-impact options instead.

Mini’s alloy wheels are from up to 70 per cent recycled aluminium. Using renewable electricity  reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80 per cent.

Recycling continues with the surfaces, vehicle floor and floor mats being constructed using at least 90 per cent recycled polyester. Using these instead of leather reduces CO2 by 98 per cent.
