Some vehicles come and go, but the Nissan Patrol? She’s a lifer. It’s no secret that I love the wafting, go-anywhere luxury of the latest Nissan Patrol.
With more than 250,000 units rolling onto Australian soil, this off-road juggernaut has etched itself into the country’s motoring DNA, tackling everything from suburban streets to the deepest, dustiest corners of the outback.
And it all started with a daring first step. Back in 1962, the Patrol G60 took on the Simpson Desert, making history with the Sprigg family’s audacious journey across more than 170,000 square kilometres of rolling sand dunes. Fast-forward a few decades, and the Patrol has been through just about every kind of Aussie adventure imaginable—towing, touring, racing, and getting bogged just to prove it can get out again.
But it’s not just Australia that’s been shaped by the Patrol—Australia has had its say in shaping the Patrol, too. Local testing and tuning have ensured every generation can handle whatever our sunburnt country throws at it. And now, with the arrival of the Patrol Warrior by Premcar, the legendary four-wheel drive has been given an Aussie-engineered makeover designed specifically for our harshest conditions.

The result? A Patrol that not only keeps up with the competition but often leaves it in the dust—literally. It’s been a sales success, with 2023 marking the best-ever year for the Y62 Patrol and the nameplate’s strongest numbers since 2004. Even better? It’s currently sitting at number one in its segment.
“The Patrol has reached legend status, and it’s still cementing that legacy today,” says Nissan Oceania’s Vice President and Managing Director, Andrew Humberstone. “The Patrol Warrior by Premcar is a perfect example of how Australia has shaped this vehicle into something truly unique for our conditions.”
And with Nissan’s new 10-year, 300,000km warranty under its MORE ownership program, the Patrol isn’t just about adventure—it’s about backing up that reliability for years to come.
So here’s to the next 250,000 Patrols hitting the road (or more likely, the bush). Because while some vehicles are just machines, the Patrol is a mate—and a bloody good one at that.
