The 2024 Silverado HD costs $163,000, a princely price. For that right royal fiscal Rogering, you get a big truck, with a big engine and big towing capacity. Its just what the doctor ordered if you have your home on your back, or are a beefy grey nomad.
2024 Silverado HD has what the 2023 model has, plus more. The front and rear ends are new-ish, the stereo is now Bose, the new interior now has a 13.4” centre screen and 12.3” driver’s screen, and there is a host of new driver and safety aids.
First, the oily bits.
The 350kW/1332Nm 6.6-litre Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 is up from 332kW/ 1234Nm. The 10 speed automatic has also had a rethink. Its ratios have been altered for 25% better low end grunt and better exhaust braking.
Should you venture off tarmac, there is an Automatic Locking Rear Differential and Z71 Off-Road suspension with Rancho twin tube shocks. The Two-Speed Transfer Case with Push Button Controls allows switching from two-wheel drive to Auto and 4WD-HI can be done on the fly and transitioning to 4WD-LO can be done when the vehicle is stationary, while Hill Descent Control assists getting back down safely.

New Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert (TSBZA) and Gross Combined Mass Alert (GCMA). TSBZA extends the blind zone area of interest and GCMA warns if Gross Combined Weight Rating has been exceeded. If only all vehicles had that.

The exterior touch-ups include new dual projector headlights, grille, and body colours. The 2089mm tray sites within the total 6387mm total length (4036 wheelbase), and 20” wheels have Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner All-Terrain tyres.
