The Texas Auto Writers Association has crowned the Genesis G70 Prestige Graphite its Luxury Vehicle of Texas for the fourth consecutive year, and at this point one begins to wonder whether the German contingent is even trying.
The G70 Prestige Graphite distinguished itself against a diverse lineup of competitors with what TAWA’s panel of automotive journalists described as “athletic driving character, enhanced craftsmanship and distinctive design.” Translation: it’s proper good, and the badge snobs can go hang.
The Winning Formula
TAWA president Marc Newman put it rather bluntly: “The Genesis G70 redefines the modern sports sedan, achieving a rare harmony between elevated luxury, razor-sharp handling, and confident, linear power delivery. Its exceptional level of refinement and dynamic precision sets a benchmark that even the most established European competitors find challenging to match.”
That’s the sort of quote that would make BMW’s marketing department reach for the schnapps.
What You Get
The G70 Prestige Graphite comes exclusively in Ceres Blue or Vatna Gray paint, which is Genesis-speak for “colours that photograph well at car shows.” Dark chrome accents grace the Crest Grille, and the 19-inch wheels wear a similarly brooding finish.
Power comes from a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6, available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The sport electronic controlled suspension does the hard work of keeping everything composed and engaging, which is precisely what a luxury sports sedan should do.
Inside, Genesis has gone full indulgence. Ultramarine Blue Nappa leather with orange contrast stitching sounds like it shouldn’t work, yet somehow does. There’s a microfiber suede headliner for those who enjoy texture variety, and a 12.3-inch 3D digital instrument cluster for those who enjoy seeing their speed rendered in three dimensions.

The Price of Admission
The 2026 Genesis G70 Prestige Graphite starts at USD $56,900 in the American market. Australian pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed, though if past form holds, local buyers can expect it to land somewhere in the $80,000-$90,000 bracket once the bean counters have had their fun.
Why It Matters
Four consecutive wins is no fluke. Genesis has been quietly building a reputation for delivering European-grade luxury and performance without the European-grade smugness. The G70 Prestige Graphite is proof that the Korean luxury marque has moved from “interesting alternative” to “the one the established players need to worry about.”
Texas knows its cars. And Texas has spoken.
