2026 Honda Prelude Confirmed with Type R Suspension and Hybrid Punch

The legend is back — and she’s electrified. Honda USA has officially confirmed key details about the 2026 Honda Prelude, and fans of sporty coupes are in for a treat. Arriving at U.S. dealers later this year, the all-new Prelude blends heritage performance with cutting-edge electrification, and yes — she’s had some work done by the Civic Type R team.

For the first time, Honda’s dual-axis front suspension (first seen on the 2017 Civic Type R) will make its way to a non-Type R model, alongside wide front and rear tracks and Brembo front brakes. That means the Prelude’s return isn’t just nostalgic — it’s purposeful. Think smooth and sharp grand touring dynamics, fine-tuned for spirited drives and everyday ease.

Under the sculpted bonnet? Honda’s renowned two-motor hybrid-electric system as seen in the Civic hybrid — the 2025 North American Car of the Year. But it doesn’t stop there. The Prelude will debut the new S+ Shift drive mode, which enhances Honda’s Linear Shift Control, giving drivers more control and engagement. The result? That rare mix of punchy performance and hybrid efficiency, wrapped up in a sleek GT silhouette.

It’s the first electrified Prelude, the sixth-generation of a cult favourite, and a long-awaited return for one of Honda’s most iconic nameplates. We can’t wait to see how it dances through corners — especially with Type R hardware underneath.

Expect a blend of nostalgia, refinement, and raw excitement. The Prelude is back, and she’s grown up — but still knows how to have fun.
