Genesis has refreshed 2027 GV60 arriving in June and starting at $88,300, it slips under the nasty tax tripwires. Considering the compeition, GV60 looks far more like a luxury EV you could buy as a first choice.
That matters, because GV60 has always been one of the prettier electric things on sale. It had the style, the cabin, and the sense of occasion, but the pricing wandered a touch too close to the sort of territory where buyers start muttering about badge prestige and residual values over a third martini. Now Genesis has sharpened the pencil, given the car a proper facelift, and handed it a far better argument.
The local range opens with GV60 ADVANCED RWD at $88,300 MLP. That puts it below the applicable LCT and fringe benefits tax exemption thresholds, which will make fleet people sit up a bit straighter. It also gives Genesis a cleaner shot at buyers who want an electric SUV with polish, not some dreary whitegood on wheels with an app and a sermon. It is squaring off against Polestar and a host of Chinese-built powerhouses.
You still get the brand theatre though. The redesigned front end is cleaner, the body-coloured detailing looks more expensive, and those Two-Line Micro-Lens Array headlights keep the futuristic Genesis face intact without turning the whole thing into and over-design blob. It is still as handsome as ever.
Inside, the new 27-inch connected car Integrated Cockpit folds the infotainment and driver display into one panoramic slab. Combined with the rather over-done Crystal Sphere shifter and the lovely light-filled cabin, it gives GV60 the an interior that German rivals completely can’t match. Mercedes for example, they think passengers should feel utterly overcome. Look at this for how overwhelming a cabin can be.

What is new in the 2027 Genesis GV60
The big mechanical change is the fourth-generation 84kWh battery. Genesis says GV60 has 561km on the WLTP cycle, which is a theoretical step up and far more useful than tbut range estimates are still very much a guessing game. Fast charging from 10 to 80% can take 18 minutes on a 350kW charger, and the upgraded battery conditioning system should make that less of a lottery in grim weather. But, DC fast charging is currently a fiasco and the previous 350kw Tritium chargers are gone. Most are between 150kw and 250kw but it is better to buy a car for tomorrow, not today. Besides you can snail-charge at home overnight.
There are plenty of smaller upgrades tucked about the place too. Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0 now watches navigation and traffic flow data, Digital Key 2.0 lets you lock, unlock, and start the car with your phone or smartwatch, and over the air updates now cover 45 items instead of 18. That progress will also allow subsciption services so be careful what you wish for.
Is the new GV60 still a proper luxury SUV
Yes, and this is where Genesis tends to be rather good. The cabin still follows the brand’s Beauty of White Space design theme, which sounds like marketing fluff but translates into a calm, expensive-looking interior with less clutter and more grace than many rivals. Obsidian Black leather is standard, Glacier White and Ash Grey remains optional, and the whole thing looks like it was drawn by someone who has seen a decent sofa before.
Genesis has also worked on refinement. There is extra soundproofing in the rear and cargo area, better windscreen sealing, and revised rear hydro bushings to cut road vibration. Steering response is sharper, braking performance gets a lift from four-piston monobloc front calipers, and the suspension has been fettled to keep the luxury brief intact. In other words, this is not a sticker pack and a wheel change. The car has had proper attention.
What about GV60 Magma
The hot one is still coming. GV60 MAGMA will join the line-up with a 700Nm dual-motor AWD powertrain, electronic limited-slip differential, Drift Mode, and Virtual Gearshift. Delightfully childish, that last one, but oooo so much fun. Full Australian details are still to come, but the intent is there. Genesis wants a halo car with a bit of menace, not another eco appliance for people who iron their socks.
For now, the important version is the one people can order. At $88,300, with more range, a richer cabin, and better value, the 2027 Genesis GV60 is pitched another rung up the ladder where it deserves to be. Luxury EV buyers want something elegant, usable, but not offensively overpriced. Genesis gives them a tick on the shopping list.
