Aston Martin is set to celebrate its 110th anniversary Sunday 15 January, 2023.

110 years ago, founders Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford got together to make the first Aston Martin car.

They had the need, the need for racing (doesn’t have quite the same ring does it?). Aston Martin started life in a small workshop on Henniker Mews, and is now a by-word for posh, fast, handsome cars. Lately, SUV offerings have made a similar mark on the automotive landscape.

Unlike Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati, Aston Martin is British to its crisply tailored core. It is a gentleman’s carriage, a GT that says everything you need to know about its driver.

Aston Martin selected two of the most important models from its 110-year year old encyclopedia of gorgeousness, drawing a large magic marker through the Who’s Who of the racing and luxury motoring. It places one of the brand’s oldest surviving record-breaking racing cars, the 1923 racer Razor Blade, next to the scapple that is the cutting-edge Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar

The 1923 racer Razor Blade was among the pioneers of aerodynamic automotive design. The Aston Martin Grand Prix specification engine won many class records at Brooklands in 1923, followed a year later by the TT1, also known at the ‘Green Pea’. A hundred years on Aston Martin is still bringing Formula One™ style and performance to the road, with the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

The 110th anniversary is to be highlighted by the launch of a new, and exclusive Aston Martin model. The big reveal takes place at this year’s Silverstone, the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance among other events.

2023 will see Aston Martin’s next generation sports cars, further polishing the mantel over one of the UK’s favourite fires.

Amedeo Felisa, Chief Executive Officer of Aston Martin Lagonda, said: “In 1913 Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford came together with a shared vision of racing cars and using learnings from the racetrack to push the boundaries of automotive innovation.

“110 years and little over 110,000 cars later, that spirit continues. Our 110th year promises to be just as exciting as our first, as we turn a new chapter in Aston Martin history with the launch of our next generation of sports cars and the reveal of an extraordinary special model later this year that will celebrate this unique milestone.”
