Cupra Australia Makes Key Appointments Prior to Launch

Things are hotting up as the time draws near for the launch of Volkswagen’s performance brand, Cupra. Cupra is a branch of Volkswagen’s Spanish operations, and includes various SEAT models.

PR is headed by Kurt McGuiness. Kurt’s current role is VW PR will expand to include Group Electric Vehicles Manager and Cupra PR roles.

Product will be headed by Jeff Shafer, who is currently heading the VW passenger car product team. Jeff comes hot off the Volkswagen team, but has previously been at KIA, and Toyota, including a stint in Japan.

Mr. Anoosh Saffari is head of sales, and Anoosh has been busy at Skoda, another VW brand.

Mr. Dane Harvey comes in as Head of Network Development, with 9 years’ experience through VW Australia.

Mr. Ben Wilks, is CUPRA Australia’s newly appointed Brand Director.

“Our brand roll-out plans are already in full swing, and it’s great to welcome Jeff, Anoosh and Dane to the growing CUPRA Tribe,” Mr. Wilks said.

“Their experience, knowledge and passion for the brand will be vital to our success in the coming years, and I look forward to working with all of them to bring this exciting brand to life in Australia” he continued.

Ahead of the brand launch in 2022, Cupra announced models will include Leon hatchback, the Ateca SUV, and the Formentor cross-over SUV, with a range of performance and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Sales will follow an agency model with online sales. For service, there will be a range of CUPRA Garages in major metro areas, within existing Volkswagen dealers.
