CUPRA Formentor VZx Launch Edition Sells Out in Minutes


Formentor VZx Launch Edition is unique to Australia, and sold shortly after being made available for online sale at noon on the 4th May.

Formentor VZx Launch Edition costs $69,990 driveaway, and includes a $4,150 Brembo brake package. This celebratory gift will be an option of the ‘standard’ VZx when it goes on sale with the rest of the CUPRA range in July.

It seems Australians are in a positive mood with the first 50 Formentor VZx Launch Editions being snapped up within hours of sales going live.

The Formentor VZx Launch Edition was offered with the one-off Launch Editions of Ateca VZx and Leon VZx performance hatchback.

At the time of writing, a small number of Ateca and Leon models, priced respectively at $69,990 and $67,990 driveaway.

CUPRA is not getting in touch with buyers who missed out on the Formentor Launch Edition ensure they have first dibs on the next shipment. Deliveries will begin in July as the full range goes on sale.

CUPRA Australia has received 9000 expressions of customer interest so far, with most of those being for Formentor. Next most popular was the BORN EV, which had earlier been confirmed for Australia by the brand’s global head Wayne Griffiths. BORN EV arrive in time for 2023 deliveries.

The CUPRA Leon VZ, VZe and VZx, Formentor V, VZ, VZe and VZx, and Ateca VZx will be available to order from June.

When these vehicles arrive in July, CUPRA will have agents in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the ACT. The halo of these City Garages will be in the Sydney CBD, with more details revealed soon.

Director of CUPRA Australia Ben Wilks said that customers were responding strongly to the brand’s “singular focus on performance and design”.

“We’ve said from the announcement of CUPRA coming to this country, that ours won’t be brand that’s liked by everyone, rather it will be loved by some, and we saw that yesterday.”
