General Motors Specialty Vehicles has pulled off a properly American-style power play, announcing a fresh partnership with the Los Angeles Rams as the NFL prepares to make history with its first-ever regular season game on Australian soil in 2026. Think big trucks, big sport, and even bigger energy — it’s the closest we’ve come to importing the Fourth of July.
The Rams have already been sashaying around Australia like they own the joint, complete with their own local Insta presence, a Super Bowl LVI Trophy tour, Rams players dropping in for photo ops, and cheerleaders lighting up youth flag football events. Their brand of spectacle has touched down everywhere from major tourist spots to grassroots fields, giving Aussies a taste of America’s most glamorous contact sport.

For GMSV, the timing couldn’t be better. Since landing in the ANZ market in 2020 with the Silverado and Corvette, the brand has gone from strength to strength — and the newly launched GMC Yukon Denali has quickly become the V8-powered eight-seat darling of anyone who wants capability, luxury, and enough towing strength to drag half the NRL up a hill. It’s the kind of SUV you’d expect an NFL offensive line to pile into after a training session… and GMSV is quite happy to lean into the imagery.
“This partnership just makes sense,” said GM ANZ Marketing Director Heath Walker. “The Rams are iconic, powerful, and polished — and our Chevrolet and GMC models are exactly the same.” Jess Bala, GM ANZ Managing Director, echoed the excitement, promising fans and owners a suite of events, activations, and special experiences across dealerships, social platforms, and of course, the big game at the MCG.
The Rams are equally thrilled. Chris Edwards, Senior Director of Global Partnerships, said the partnership aligns two brands obsessed with performance, innovation, community, and delivering big, exciting moments that linger long after full-time — which feels like the closest thing American sport has to camp.
The partnership will roll out a multi-layered program: a content series counting down to the Melbourne showdown, a VIP tailgate event at the MCG with GMC Yukon Denali and Chevrolet Silverado on display (yes, actual tailgating, in Melbourne — brace yourselves), plus youth clinics and vehicle displays nationwide. And to top it all off, GMSV will send one lucky customer to Los Angeles for a VIP SoFi Stadium experience, including flights, accommodation, pre-game field access, VIP tailgate passes, premium seats, a stadium tour, and an armful of Rams merch. It’s basically the gayest NFL holiday package ever assembled.
As the countdown to the historic MCG kick-off begins, GMSV and the Rams are set to deliver a uniquely Down Under blend of American sporting theatre and Aussie automotive enthusiasm. Big helmets, big trucks, big showmanship — and big excitement for fans and customers alike.
