GWM has locked in final specifications and drive-away pricing for the highly anticipated Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV. This ladder-frame 4×4 arrives in Australian showrooms from early April 2026, offering a blend of genuine off-road hardware and plug-in hybrid efficiency.
Lux and Ultra variants
The local line-up consists of two heavily equipped grades: Lux and Ultra. Both models utilise the Hi4-T powertrain, pairing a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with a high-output electric motor. Combined, the system produces 300kW and 750Nm, allowing the 2.6-tonne SUV to hit 100km/h in 6.3 seconds.
GWM has confirmed competitive national drive-away pricing to launch the range:
- Lux: $55,990 drive-away
- Ultra: $59,990 drive-away
Off-road capability
Despite the hybrid tech, the Tank 300 remains a serious 4×4. It features a part-time four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case and an electric rear differential lock as standard. The Ultra grade adds a front differential lock and extra underbody protection for more technical terrain.
The 37.11kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery provides a 115km electric-only range (NEDC). For longer trips, the combined range reaches 955km, while the 3,000kg braked towing capacity ensures it remains practical for weekend escapes. Charging from 30% to 80% takes 24 minutes via a 50kW DC fast charger.

Interior and technology
Inside, both variants feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9-speaker premium audio system. Safety is comprehensive, including seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking with junction assist, and adaptive cruise control.
The Ultra variant steps up the luxury with Nappa leather-accented seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated and cooled front seats with a massage function for the driver. It also features 64-colour ambient lighting and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
New Sundrift Sand
Five exterior colours are available, including the new Sundrift Sand, inspired by Australia’s desert trails. Other options include Fossil Grey, Dusk Orange, Crystal Black, and Pearl White. Metallic paint carries a $595 surcharge.
With its blend of massive torque, low fuel consumption, and proven off-road geometry, the Tank 300 Hi4-T is positioned to challenge the established 4×4 market when it lands in dealerships this April.
