GWM just finished cracking 2025, climbing to 7th place on the Aussie top Ten. Legacy brands were already under pressure and if they continue to keep theirs heads in the sand, Holden’s fate awaits them.
GWM isn’t wasting any time holding onto that momentum. They’ve just dropped their ballsy “More Tech for Less” campaign for the start of 2026. Unlike most “sales,” these discounts actually move the needle to run out all of the 2025-plated stock. The gardening shears have taken up to $4,000 off driveaway prices across the board, covering everything from the cutesy-pie, city-slicking Ora EV to the Land Cruiser-killing big-boy, the Tank 500.
If you’re hunting for a bargain, the Haval H6 is the standout. They’ve chopped $4,000 off the hybrids and plug-ins, meaning you can nab the recently reviewed Ultra PHEV for $43,990. That’s an awful lot of tech for pennies. Remembering the 92k Kia is asking for the Sorento PHEV, albeit a 7-seater, the Haval is a dagger. If you just need an el-cheapo runabout that doesn’t feel like a puny box of misery, the Jolion starts at $23,990 driveaway. No, that’s not a typo—it’s actually cheaper than some used cars with 50,000 clicks on the clock. GWM has sharpened the pencils to stiletto-like perfection.

For the EV curious, the Ora is now sitting at $33,990. It’s a quirky bit of goods but we utterly adored it. And at that price, it’s the cheapest way to stop paying for petrol. Meanwhile, the (ever-complaining) 4WD crowd hasn’t been ignored. The Tank 300 starts at $47,990, and if you’ve got an ABN, you need even fewer shekels. The Cannon Alpha, for example, gets a $2,000 discount plus another $1,500 off for business buyers. It was already a top buy and one we really loved.
Needless to say GWM is hungry, no, make that starving. They want that top five spot so badly that they’re prepared to assassinate the old guard to do it. You want to see Toyota match it? Yeah, nah!
These deals are on 2025-plated stock and they expire on January 31, or whenever the lot runs dry. If you’ve been eyeing one off, now is the time to actually walk into the dealership and lowball them while they’re in a giving mood.
