How to the Automated Self-parking in the 2022 BMW M240i Coupé

1 Activate the Automated feature in iDrive (under menu-vehicle-driver assistance) ready for use

2 The system is now looking out for spaces

3 When you wish to park, press the parking button on the centre console

4 The camera comes on and displays on the centre console screen, drive slowly forward.

5 When a space is found, a gong sounds and a space marked “P” appears on the camera diagram.

6 The car will have selected whether it is a parallel or 900 space, stop with foot on brake.

7 select space by touching the screen “P”

8 Release brake and follow instructions

9 Once complete, “Park” is automatically and the parking brake applied.

10 Switch off the ignition with the Engine Start button.

*The system is fully automated but the driver must remain aware at all times. The car will change gears and direction without the driver needing to intervene. The brake may be used without disrupting the process, but pressing the auto park button, or applying pressure to the steering wheel, will end the procedure.

If the system decides it is unable to complete the task, it will stop and request the driver take over.

Our week in the 2022 BMW M240i is over, sadly. The review will follow, but we can’t wait for another steer.
