Hyundai is expanding the in-car experience with Amazon Music streaming to apps built in to the infotainment system. Gays up and down the nation will be streaming Kylie (assuming the Queen is on Amazon of course) whether or not they’ve remembered their mobiles. It is unlikely an LGBTI person would leave the house without a mobile, but if they do, Amazon can still be streamed, HOORAH!

The all-new Kona Electric will be the first to take advantage with Amazon Music, being the first streaming service to participate with in-car streaming. Already a streaming giant, Amazon Music’s push into automotive entertainment will see that service expansion rate increase.

Like most car-makers, Hyundai includes over-the-air updates as part of the built-in infrastructure of the vehicle. It uses an embedded SIM card to carry data, so in this case, in-car streaming gives Amazon Music subscribers the ability to enjoy their music while on the road.

Hyundai includes a three-year complimentary period of Bluelink, the name they give the connectivity feature. It is worth noting that Amazon Music can already be streamed via Apple CarPlay, and in the near future, Hyundai’s CarPlay will be wireless.

The in-car service will require an Amazon Music subscription and valid Bluelink activation.  The owner will then use the Bluelink app which will connect driver’s profile to the vehicle, thus giving them access to their existing music and playlists through the infotainment system.

The rollout will continue for existing Kona ICE/HEV owners as the feature gradually rolls out through over-the-air software updates.

Features will be gradually added to the service, such as voice commands for selecting specific songs or artists. The voice control allows drivers to interact with the service without using buttons, so will reduce distraction.

Owners of any vehicle with built-in sim cards, enjoy the service it provides with the car-maker picking up the tab. Once the grace period expires, the owner will be required to pay the ongoing fees to continue the data flow without interruption. The SIM card uses the regular mobile phone towers so will only work where your mobile already works.

All brands are gradually moving to the benefits of over-the-air updates, and if defies imagination to think that cell towers will be required to not only carry the traffic from user’s phones, but their cars as well.
