Hyundai Wins 16 Red Dot Design Awards for Excellence

Hyundai has won 16 Red Dot design awards. The ‘Best of Best’ headed the list of 16 awards  at the Brands & Communication Design 2021, hosted by Germany’s Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen.

Hyundai Motor’s new technology campaign ‘Little Big e-Motion’ was the Best of Best winner in the Film & Animation category. The video depicts how a minicar, with Emotion Adaptive Vehicle Control (EAVC) technology installed, helps young patients go from hospital bed to treatment room. The same film video was awarded with a silver 2021 New York Festival Advertising Award.

Another gong went to the Hyundai EV Infotainment System, and its “Jong-e” ethos in the all electric IONIQ 5. The Best of Best was awarded in the “Interface & User Experience” category. Hyundai is  newcomer to this segment of the awards.  The interface includes settings for interior ambience like soft, delicate and exuberant color gradients. The cabin’s lighting has the same parametric pixel design Hyundai used for IONIQ 5’s exterior lights. The word ‘Jong-e’ means ‘paper’ in Korean.

A further 14 awards in seven categories, included nods for Film & Animation, Interface & User Experience, Spatial Communication, Apps, Advertising, Online, and Digital Solutions.

Another video won an award in the Film & Animation category. ‘This is Us’ is a campaign video that depicts the hopes and solidarity to overcome COVID-19, and the ‘I’m in charge’ cinematic film, calling for a sustainable world future.

Other awards were given to the ‘Hyundai Infotainment System-Aqua Theme Design’ and Hyundai Motor’s smart TV platform ‘Channel Hyundai’. Winners in the Apps category included ‘Channel Hyundai’ and Hyundai’s connectivity application ‘Bluelink’.

The Red Dot Award is yet another global award given to ‘Hyundai Infotainment System-Aqua Theme Design,’ ‘Channel Hyundai’ and ‘Bluelink,’ following iF Design Award 2021 earlier this year. Hyundai is justifiably pleased that ‘Channel Hyundai’ won award in four different Red Dot categories: including Interface & User Experience Design, Apps, Online, and Digital Solution.

Further awards came for in the Spatial Design category for the ‘Hyundai Motorstudio Busan,’ ‘Hyundai Motor Group Training Center,’ ‘Hyundai EV Station Gangdong’ and ‘Hyundai Cheonan Global Learning Center.’ These facilities were acknowledged for giving new types of customer experience through spatial design.

Advertising category awards included ‘OOH & Ambient for London Eye,’ an IONIQ brand campaign taken place at the world-famous London Eye last year, and ‘H2U (Hydrogen to You),’ a campaign promoting the endless value of sustainable hydrogen energy.
