ABOVE: Hyundai Supports Outfest and GLAAD Awards
Spec Spot
Hyundai partnered with the 2020 Hyundai Emerging Director award winner, Lauren Neal, and LGBTQ-owned production company, Canyon Road Films, to develop an all-new commercial. The 60-second spot, Chosen Family, celebrates the LGBTQ community and how families can be who you chose. It will play at Outfest, the GLAAD Media Awards and NewFest on-site events, as well as virtual streaming events.
32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards
Hyundai was the presenting sponsor of the 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, an event that celebrates and honors media for its fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives. Hyundai’s partnership included a wide range of digital branding and inclusion of the all-new Tucson in CHIKA’s musical performance. CHIKA, who received a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist, performed “FWB” and “Save You.” The awards show took place on April 8, 2021 and can be viewed on GLAAD’s YouTube and Hulu. For more information on GLAAD visit glaad.org.
2021 Outfest Fusion
Hyundai is also the official automotive sponsor of the 2021 Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival. The virtual and drive-in festival brings the city’s diverse populations together, providing a safe space and a valuable platform to amplify the voices of LGBTQ artists of color, both professionally and personally. Hyundai’s partnership includes a wide range of digital branding and a socially-distanced on-site experience. The festival takes place from April 16-20, 2021 online and at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. For more information and tickets, visit OutfestFusion.com.
At the drive-in festival, Hyundai will have a front row VIP experience where filmmakers, influencers, and other VIPs can use the Hyundai Tucson, Nexo, Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid, Kona Electric or Elantra for their viewing pleasure. All vehicles will be cleaned and disinfected according to CDC guidelines. Hyundai will also be represented with the screening of Chosen Family as well as their Chosen Family “Behind the Scenes” documentary.
In addition, Hyundai will present one talented filmmaker with the 2021 Hyundai Emerging Director Award. The winner will get to direct Hyundai’s 2022 LGBTQ spec spot with a seasoned production team and a Hyundai-funded production budget.
The above LGBTQ initiatives and content is produced and managed by agency R&CPMK.
