The big, bold, sinuous body of theE-Tron GT RS wraps itself around a delicious capsule of decadent luxury. Passengers are cocooned in the kind of impeccable tailoring usually reserved for the secretive clients of Savile Row.
Even the humble entry Audi cars are beautifully executed, but E-Tron GT RS is the cat’s whiskers, and it is electric.
Ahead of our full review, our first impressions are exceptional, indeed, unique. The bodacious design exudes desire, with fine lines across the matrix headlights and LED tail lights that flare over the wheels. The fastback shape will be familiar to purveyors of Porkers who lust after the tenacious Taycan. E-Tron GT RS is better, it just is.

ABOVE: Audi RS e-Tron GT
Despite the market’s obsession with SUVs, the sedan-like handling of the RS e-Tron GT outclasses all else in the stable. The RS version gives the regular e-Tron GT a goodly dose of steroids, with 440kw/830Nm propelling the AWD QUATTRO to 100 in 3.3seconds.
The vice-like grip acts as if each wheel is unrolling the tarmac as it rockets along the surface of the Earth. The feeling is one most folk will only experience in a fair ground ride.
The seats feel personally curated for each occupant, and there is heating and cooling to keep the interior just so. Among the extensive menu of luxury condiments is the saucy Bang & Olufsen audio system which is worthy of a review of its own. The sublime tone is perfection, as clear as if the listener is in the hall with the original performers. It is quite simply, extraordinary.
We’ll talk more about charging, performance, the drive, and all the mindboggling technology, during the full review. I promise, you’ll be up to pussy’s bow with more anticipation than you’re inner sanctum can manage.
Meanwhile, with the good, comes the naff.
Audi removed the SYNC button from the climate control panel (in some Audi models – E-Tron still has such a button) and is now SYNC by pinching the 2 zones instead, a daft idea because it is hidden so unless you know about it, will never find it. E-Tron GT keeps the button, thankfully. Unforgivably, there is a horrible fake engine sound to accompany part of the journey. “Ze buyerz vill take vot ve zay, und not vat zay vont,” and I’m sure they will.
In fact, I’m going to ignore RS e-Tron GT’s minor foibles. Those mere trifles are as naught compared to the flawless paint, immaculate cabin, mountainous performance, and utterly ravishing body.
To top it all off, the tail lights do a mesmerising dance as the lock/unlock functions are performed. I dare you not to stand behind your RS e-Tron GT, stabbing the key fob like a demented woodpecker.
Would I prefer an R8? Would I bugger! Gimmie da RS e-Tron GT, cheers, thanks a lot Pats.
